August Pullman (Auggie) : A ten year old boy who was born with a cleft palate along with other birth defects. A clever, kind young boy who really likes Star Wars. He's going to school for the first time in his life in the fifth grade.
Olivia Pullman (Via) : August's older sister. She has Long, dark, wavy hair , and just started her first year in high school. She's very protective over her brother.
Justin: Via's boyfriend. He's plays the fiddle and very into zydeco music. Also, he's shy.
Miranda: Via's best friend. Over the summer she had changed her entire appearance. She has pink hair that's in a bob and wears clothing that's inappropriate for school. Via and Miranda have distant ever since the first day of school.
Jack Will : August's best friend. He's a blonde haired kid who has average grades, and he likes to make everyone laugh. He says that out of all of the fifth grade boys he would rather hang out with August. In one part of the book Jack accidentally talked rudely behind his back.
Julian Albans : One of the kids in August's homeroom. He seems to keep insulting August and bullies him with names. some examples: orc , mutant, etc.
Summer: A smart girl who likes to write creatively. She has dark, curly hair, and she was the only one who sat with August on the first day of school.
